City Break, Brasov

Brasov is one of the largest and most cherished cities of the country. Surrounded on three sides by mountains, it was a perfect place for a medieval settlement. The old city, founded by the Teutonic Knights in 1211, is one of the best preserved cities in all of Europe. It was thoroughly restored to the delight of an increasing number of tourists. It is the capital city of Brasov County located in central Romania, in Transylvania, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. Brasov also makes a fabulous base for exploring the surrounding countryside where the air is clean and the people are friendly.
* Old Town Walking down and exploring the streets is probably the most enjoyable thing you can do in Brasov. The Old Town has lots of colorful houses, good restaurants and a medieval church. The main square is very picturesque, especially at night. You should walk through the Old Town during the day and at night.
* The Black Church Brasov's most important landmark, the Black Church, is the largest Gothic church between Vienna and Istanbul. Built between 1385 and 1477, the church was given its name after the Great Fire of 1689,which destroyed most of the town, heavily damaged the church, and blackened its walls.
* The old Synagogue Brasov's unique red-and-white synagogue is located on Poarta Schei, inside the gates that are marking the entrance to the historical walled city center. Built at the turn of the twentieth century, it originally serviced the city's Jewish population (which numbered about 1,200 at the time). It recently underwent a major restoration.
* Tampa hill Panoramic The best view to the city - Tampa hill is just south of the old city and you can easily reach it by the Tampa cable car . On the hill there is Brasov sign in "Hollywood style”. You can enjoy the view of the whole city from the panorama terrace. You can also enjoy it from the restaurant located there (although it's in old communist style).
* Strada Sforii (Rope Street) - Narrowest street in Europe, around 1.3 meters (4 ft) wide. Was renovated in 2003.
* Schei district - Just outside the citadel, it is the first original Romanian site, surrounding the fortress. Built by local German merchants as a means of increasing traffic from the Romanian population outside the city walls, this is more modern and less defensive than other gates in the city. Built in the 19th century in the Renaissance style, with a gate more like a Roman Porta than a medieval Saxon tor.
* Aqua Parc From toddlers splashing around in water near their parents to elderly, everybody can reach the pool to get the portion of health, everybody is welcome in the world of water.
EXCURSION Bran Castle .Another easy half-day trip from Brasov is at the infamous Bran Castle. Not actually home of Dracula (in fact, chances are that he never even visited the castle), this Transylvanian landmark has been the stuff of legends for years.
EXCURSION: Rasnov Fortress easily accessible from Brasov makes a great half-day trip for people with an interest in medieval or military history.
UNESCO World Heritage sites: the villages of Prejmer and Viscri with their fortified churches.
Prejmer Fortified Saxon Church - Built in the 13-14th centuries, this is the best preserved fortified church in Transylvania and it's definitely worth the detour.
Rupea fortress , Feldioara fortress , Hoghiz with several historical buildings , Făgăraş fortress , Sâmbăta de Sus fortress and monastery.
