City Break, Bucharest

  Bucharest, the capital of Romania, is the largest city and the main political, administrative, economic, financial, banking, educational, scientific and cultural center of the country. Bucharest, a capital which was certified more than 500 years ago, is nowadays animated by a population of almost two million inhabitants. Known in the past as "The Little Paris’’, Bucharest has become a mix of old and new, traditional and modern, due to the brightness of its cultural life and its social atmosphere.
*The Parliament Palace (Palatul Parlamentului) The world's second largest building was built as a palace for Nicolae Ceauşescu, who was overthrown and executed before it was completed.
*Romanian Athenaeum (Ateneul Roman) is the work of French architect Albert Galleron, who also designed the National Bank of Romania, and it was completed in 1888, financed almost entirely with money donated by the general public.
*Stavropoleos Church (Biserica Stavropoleos) Built in 1724, this beautiful church is one of Bucharest's oldest.
*The Old Court Church (Biserica Curtea Veche) (also called the Old Princely Church) is the oldest church in Bucharest.
*The Village Museum (Muzeul Satului) This outdoor museum includes more than 300 buildings representing the history of Romania's rural architecture.
*Museum of the Romanian Peasant Opened in 1906, the museum features the richest folk art collection in Romania, with over 90,000 artifacts that trace the colorful and diverse cultural life of the Romanian people.
*National Art Museum (former Royal Palace) Romania's leading art museum was founded in 1948 to house the former Royal Collection, which included Romanian and European art dating from the 15th to the 20th century.
*Cismigiu Gardens (Gradina Cismigiu) The Cismigiu Garden is the oldest and, at 17 hectares, the largest park in city's central area.
*Lipscani  district A once-glamorous residential area, the old city centre is now slowly being refashioned into an upscale neighborhood. Lipscani is the perfect place to go for a walk, lunch, dinner or a night out. During the evenings the area is quite crowded, but it has this southern exotic vibe of enjoyment, laughter and a good time with friends.
*Botanical Garden  Opened in 1891, the garden features over 5,000 varieties of plants from Romania and around the world.
*The National Opera House. Opera House is the main venue for seeing opera and ballet performances in Bucharest. The Opera building is a relatively new construction (1953). It has a capacity of 2200 places and it hosts at the top floor The Opera Museum where documents, pictures and costumes regarding the lyric culture and history of Romania are held.
